The signs of aging in our face can be subtle or more apparent. They can include wrinkles, fine lines, and folds. Or it may be hollow spots or loss of plump volume. As one of the first parts of our face to age, our lips may be the first place we notice. If you’re experiencing any of these aging signs and are ready for an enhancement, consider one of the world’s most popular dermal filler collections; Juvéderm. One of the many varieties of Juvéderm can treat each of these concerns safely and effectively without the need for surgery or downtime. Look younger, feel rejuvenated, and get excited every morning when you look in the mirror.
The team at Rejuvenate MedSpa in Denver, CO, are all highly experienced, expertly trained, and fully licensed aesthetic professionals. With the input and guidance of our medical directors, who are both board-certified plastic surgeons, our cosmetic medical staff uses techniques and products that are scientifically proven to give you the most natural-looking and aesthetically pleasing results possible. Our expert injectors can help determine the optimal Juvéderm treatment for you and provide outstanding results.
The Juvéderm collection of injectables, also known generally as Juvéderm, is a group of hyaluronic, acid-based dermal fillers that work to correct a variety of skin concerns. Because Juvéderm is made with a synthetic version of hyaluronic acid (HA), which is found naturally occurring in the body, it is an extremely safe cosmetic option and has a low risk of side effects or allergy. The way that Juvéderm works is two-fold. The HA in the filler works to physically “fill up” areas in your face to correct wrinkles and add volume. In addition, the HA in Juvéderm actually boosts collagen production for an ongoing, gradually improving result.
Hyaluronic acid is a thick, slippery gel-like substance that is found throughout the body, including the skin, eyes, and joints. Because hyaluronic acid can hold 1000x its weight in water, it is extremely effective at keeping things moist and lubricated. Signs of aging in our skin are often caused by loss of moisture, so dermal fillers that contain hyaluronic acid work to replace that moisture and promote collagen production.
This variety of Juvéderm is one of the most versatile. It is the thickest and least spreadable of the Juvéderm treatments, meaning it can last up to two years, is great for correcting facial fat loss, and can add volume to the face. It can be used to address hollow temples, contour the chin, and achieve high, full cheekbones. Juvéderm VOLUMA XC is a reliable, non-surgical way to plump and revitalize the face.
Your lips are markedly swollen. There can be mild asymmetry and bruising at this stage.
Juvéderm Ultra Plus XC is another medium-thickness filler and offers a firmer, finished look. Because of its consistency, it can be injected deep into the dermis, meaning this variant is great for deeper lines around the mouth and can also be used to fill in hollow or sunken areas. We often select this variety for deep smile lines or hollow temples.
Since Juvéderm Ultra XC has a high water affinity, it is good at retaining moisture and is often the preferred option for fine lines. This type of Juvéderm is also what we typically choose for lip enhancement. Because of its thin consistency, it can be injected directly into the lips for a subtle or dramatic plumped lip effect.
Juvéderm dermal fillers are a versatile collection of fillers that can provide improvements and enhancements throughout the entire face. Whether you’re looking to add volume, smooth lines and wrinkles, or achieve voluminous, full lips, there is a Juvéderm for you. One of the main reasons patients choose Juvéderm is because it can provide all of these great improvements with no surgery and no downtime. You can enjoy smoothed lines, voluminous cheeks, or full lips in just one session. Juvéderm fillers can offer:
Because this treatment is minimally invasive, great for all skin types, and requires no anesthesia or sedation, almost anyone looking to improve the appearance of aging in their face is a great candidate. There is a very low risk of allergy with Juvéderm because it is made with hyaluronic acid. Patients who may have had adverse side effects with neuromodulator injectables like Botox often do very well with Juvéderm. Our Denver Juvéderm patients are usually looking to improve the appearance of:
Our expert injectors are highly trained and qualified to offer you not only the highest quality and safest dermal filler injections in Denver, but they will also give you a custom-tailored treatment plan. We will determine your precise aesthetic needs and decide exactly which type of Juvéderm treatment will be best for your particular preferences. Along with planning the details of your treatment, we’ll also provide any details on necessary preparation prior to your treatment. Typically for Juvéderm, we ask that you avoid sun exposure for a few days prior to treatment. We will be unable to administer the injections if the skin is irritated (even a mild sunburn), so it’s important to take care of your skin leading up to your appointment.
Most Juvéderm appointments only take about 30 minutes to complete. First, your skin will be cleansed and a topical numbing cream or ice pack will be applied if needed. Then, your master injector will administer the selected Juvéderm formula or formulas with a fine needle. Along with injections, your provider may gently massage the injection area to guide and contour the serum into the proper area for optimal results. Your Juvéderm appointment will take place in one of our well-appointed, relaxing treatment rooms. Our goal for each Juvéderm appointment is your comfort and aesthetic satisfaction.
After Juvéderm injections, you may experience some mild swelling or redness at the injection sites. Since there is no anesthesia or sedation involved, you will be able to resume your regular, daily activities right away. We will provide information on any post-care instructions. We recommend that you sleep on your back in an elevated position for a few days to ensure that your filler settles as intended. Along with your original treatment plan, we will create a maintenance plan looking forward. Since every patient and their skin are unique, you may feel the need to come in for a follow-up sooner or later than recommended depending on your preference.
Because the lips are a delicate area, it takes an experienced injector to select the right amount of lip filler, the correct cosmetic injectable, and the proper injection technique to make your lip augmentation results look natural. The RN and PA injectors at Rejuvenate MedSpa are very experienced and strive to use the precisely correct amount of lip filler to create a natural, luxurious look. After a skilled lip injection session, there is an expected timeline for recovery that is detailed below. It is important to have an awareness of the typical progression, so you know what to expect.
Right after your procedure, you will most likely feel some slight tenderness right at the injection sites. This irritation usually resolves in a few hours and there usually isn’t a great deal of swelling right after the procedure.
On day one, most patients see extensive swelling that is uncomfortable or even concerning. Keep in mind, swelling is totally normal, and although it may seem extreme, it should resolve on its own in just a few days.
The peak of swelling should have passed by the second day, although it will be apparent. Sensitivity at the injection sites should have significantly diminished.
By day three, you should see a dramatic reduction in swelling and will likely start to see a sneak peek of the final results. You might also notice some bruising or lumps. These are both normal side effects and typically resolve on their own in just a few days.
At the two-week point, you should no longer be seeing dramatic daily changes. Bruising, swelling, and lumps should all be resolved.
Four Weeks Enjoy your gorgeous results! Most patients see their final, optimal results at this point. If you would like to make any adjustments or add a bit more volume, feel free to contact us to schedule a touch-up appointment.

As with most needle injections, you may feel a slight pinch during treatment. Any discomfort can be eased by using a topical anesthetic or an ice pack prior to injection.
Juvéderm is very safe, especially when administered by a skilled professional. Possible minor side effects could include bruising or swelling at the injection site.
Juvéderm is not permanent, and the length of the results will depend on which formulation is used and what it is being used for. Your provider can give you a specific timeline based on your treatment plan, but there is a range of about 6 to 24 months.
With a certified injector and a reasonable volume goal, your natural lips will not be permanently affected by Juvéderm.
You will need to wait a few hours to eat or drink until any numbness has worn off. For a day or so, the changes in your lips may make it challenging to eat certain messy or crunchy foods, so you should hold off on those until after any swelling goes down.
No, most cosmetic procedures are not recommended while pregnant or breastfeeding, including Juvéderm.
Follow-up appointments for Juvéderm will depend on the treatment area and which formula is used. Follow-up treatments spaced anywhere from 12 to 18 months apart are typical.
The cost of your Juvéderm treatment will depend on your specific treatment plan. Ask about our specials!
