During your consultation, your provider will assess your skin and discuss your goals to determine if a VI Peel is the best treatment for you. To prepare for your peel, you will need to avoid exfoliating treatments, waxing, and other abrasive skin treatments for at least one week prior to your peel. We will also advise you to discontinue the use of retinoids and other active skincare products to minimize irritation.
At the beginning of your Denver VI Peel appointment, your provider will cleanse your skin to remove any dirt, makeup, or oils. Then, the VI Peel solution will be applied in layers, with the entire process typically taking about 20 to 30 minutes. You will be instructed to leave the solution on your skin for about four to six hours and then rinse it off thoroughly at home. During application, patients sometimes report a tingling or mild stinging sensation, but the peel itself contains a numbing component to ease any discomfort.
The VI Peel also requires adherence to an at-home care regimen. This includes using activation towlettes, gentle cleansing, moisturizing, and liberal application of SPF to protect your skin and ensure safe and effective results. This will all be covered at the time of application with your aesthetician.
It’s important to keep in mind that the amount of actual skin peeling will vary significantly between individuals and their specific skin type and the state of their skin. Some may see noticeable and heavy peeling, while others may only see mild flaking. This is all within normal range, and optimal results can be seen in any case. Immediately after the peel, patients may see some swelling or redness, but these should subside quickly. You will, however, want to hold off on exercising for 3-5 days to give your skin time to breathe and recover. Full results should be visible within about a week and last for around three to four months.

Mild stinging, tingling, or a burning sensation could occur for some patients with a VI Peel, but most patients find it very tolerable, and small fans can be used to ease discomfort during treatment.
Side effects with this treatment are usually minor but could include itchiness, swelling, or redness. More serious but very rare side effects like blistering or infection can occur. Patients should be sure to inform their provider about any skin sensitivities.
Most patients do experience some peeling, but the extent varies greatly between individuals.
In most cases, results after the VI Peel last about four months, and optimal skin care can further extend the outcome.
